Mount Smart Road

The task

This project for Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities required the demolition of 3 existing dwellings to create 18 new one-bedroom apartments across six 3-storey blocks. The complex is constructed from concrete tilt slabs which were pre-cast offsite and craned into position, providing faster build times and greater precision. The project features onsite parking for residents, and retained the sites existing mature trees, while adding additional planting to enhance the green space.

Our thinking

Hampton Jones provided Engineer to the Contract services on this project, acting as the impartial administrator of the contract, and providing advice to the client. This role creates a framework in which all parties involved can discuss and co-operate on the project openly, ensuring prompt resolution of any issues, resulting in a high quality completed project and a happy client.

The result

This project was delivered on budget, on time and was efficiently managed with a highly organised contractor and project team. It has gone on to be nominated for a Residential award in the Property Council Property Industry Awards 2020.
