On Tuesday night Hampton Jones was a proud sponsor of ‘Piecing It All Together – Prefabrication and Modular Construction’ in Christchurch. This event, held by the CIOB Oceania and The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers was the first in NZ, of a series of technical seminars being held across Oceania.
This was an important event for Hampton Jones, as our own Senior Quantity Surveyor James Green, is the CIOB Committee Chair and Regional Representative for Oceania.
This informative evening brought together a panel of technical experts to piece together the puzzle of prefabrication and modular construction from both a building services and construction perspective. Topics for the evening included:
Dan Tremewan, Welhaus – Innovations introduced through prefabrications including technologies and building efficiencies
Bernie O’Fagan and Julian Addington, RM Designs and EngCo – Design experience across unique and innovative buildings, meeting clients’ needs and the benefits of prefabrication in construction
Anne Mackenzie, Build Green – Insights into the innovative and sustainable delivery of offsite fabricated buildings
James Green said:
“The presentations were really well received, with broad coverage of the topic including the benefits of prefab and modular, challenges the industry faces, and some good questions for the panel. A lot of the presentations included visuals and discussions of the experts’ project experiences, on everything from small residential builds to large commercial projects made up of modular units. Attendees included contractors, engineers, architects, project managers, cost consultants, students and public bodies.
It was great to see everyone stick around for beers and pizzas after the panel session, and you could hear it’s a topic designers and engineers in particular really enjoy thinking about, and something everyone will need to keep up with in the future!”
