Our Architectural team have recently completed the design of the stylish, innovative and sustainably-focused 'The Miller' apartment building in Auckland's Onehunga. The medium-rise structure is innovative both in its timber construction methodology and in Hampton Jones’s use of C4R (Collaboration for Revit) technology.

News and thought leadership
Some of our Design team recently visited the Pro Clima Hub in Penrose, Auckland. The Hub is a one-of-a-kind facility showcasing advanced building systems for healthy, energy efficient and durable buildings, and providing training for building professionals. The facility has an actual Passive House built inside it, which was really interesting for our team! Passive Houses result in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for heating or cooling.
Hampton Jones are very pleased to announce that Craig Harvett has joined us as the Group Manager of our Project Management division. Craig says of his new role “I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute to growing the Project Management team at Hampton Jones, and to make a positive contribution to the construction sector overall. I’m looking forward to us winning further major new capital developments, and increasing our recognition for delivering innovative Project Management Services that provide best value for our clients”.
Even today, we still find construction defects associated with roof coverings, wall claddings and external joinery on recently constructed buildings (less than 10 years old). There are also problems with poor material specification or installation. Some of these include latent defects which may not be readily apparent to the untrained eye, but can lead to big problems during the buildings life. Failure to identify risk in relation to these elements can lead to significant cost implications.
Asbestos was one of those miracle products, incombustible and a stable product binder that provided strength. Unfortunately, no one foresaw the impact that tiny asbestos fibres, barbed in form, would have on the respiratory system if released into the air we breathe. WorkSafe estimate that 170 Kiwis die each year from asbestos related respiratory illness.
Our Christchurch team are on the move! Having outgrown their current space on Victoria Street, the team will be moving to the newly named Hampton Jones House at the end of July.
